The united nations chater on self determination says ~ All peoples have the right to self-determination. By virtue of that right they freely determine their political status, well being and freely pursue their own economic, social and multicultural development. Jul 19, 2006.
But in Nigeria, some people have seen self determination as a crime against humanity (Like a Caliphate would teach). Some have gone as far as discriminating and disassociating themselves form people that believes in self determination. The irony is that most people in Nigeria, who are also avid football lovers are ignorant of the fact that AS PEP GUADIOLA(coach of Manchester City)
and GERALD PIQUÉ (BARCELONA) IS TO SPAIN SO IS NNAMDI KANU TO NIGERIA.
Pique and his wife shakira are both championing the course of Independentista catalunya. Just like Nnamdi kanu was doing down here. The Barcelona Football club which has always proudly attach grandeur to its motto “més que un club”, also with pride wears the yellow jersey of native catalunya to the pitch and their fans both Spanish and Catalans cheers them up to the heavens.
Also the home Stadium of Barcelona #CAMP_NOU is decorated with a big sign boldly written. #WE_ARE_CATOLIONA_NOT_SPAIN. Surprise!!! But so true.
Pep Guadiola who is the very popular coach of Manchester City football club; the champions of England. A very animated figure on the touch lines of the football pitch.
A native of Catalunya who has always felt that his native home has being well deprived of life basics. while they work hard for nothing but make the capital city rich.
He is always spotted with the yellow ribbon during every press conference and while on the touch line doing his job.
The yellow ribbon represents his solidarity for people back home (Catalunya) who have being put in prison or gone on exile because they want a referendum and a place in the league of Nations.
What is Catalunya ?
Catalunya, one of the Spanish 17 districts, is located in the northeastern region of Spain. The regional capital of Catalunya also called Catalonia is #Barcelona. Catalonia’s population of 7.5 millon people makes up 22% of Spain’s population, while the region accounts for over 25% of the Spanish #economy.
Who notice any similarities with the Eastern part of Nigeria?
When did Catalonia become part of Spain?
In the 12th century, the county was brought under the same royal rule as the neighbouring kingdom of Aragon, going on to become a major medieval sea power. Catalonia has been part of Spain since its genesis in the 15th century, when King Ferdinand of Aragon and Queen Isabella of Castile married and united their realms.
why do Cataloina want independence ?
The economic crisis in Spain hit Catalonia very hard, leaving it with 25% unemployment (compared with 29% nationally). The region, which makes up 22% of Spain’s population, accounts for almost 25% of Spanish GDP but there is a widespread feeling that the central government takes much more than it gives back.
This sense of injustice fuels the independència campaign,
With this little history of Catalunya my readers; you can see that they where once an independent country, but were brought together by virtue of Marriage in the 15th century.
Here in Nigeria on the eve of 1 January 1914 a similar thing happened . The marriage between the Northern and Southern Protectorate. Which was championed and supervised by LORD FREDERICK LURGAD (A well celebrated colonial master from Britain).
This unholy marriage was stated to last just for a 100 years.
This 100 years ended in 2014. During the government of Goodluck Jonathan. The 100 years centenary was celebrated and the 100 naira Note changed to A centenary Note and also followed by a national conference for all tribe to decide their future in Nigeria. After this conference which was honored by many dignitaries form North, south and west of Nigeria. The outcome has been kept unknown to the public till date.
WE ARE BIAFRA NOT NIGERIA.
